Flagship destinations

Generation-defining challenges demand ambitious goals. 

Six "flagship destinations," or sustainability targets, guide our work and illustrate where we see the greatest potential for impact at a global scale.

We aim to benefit one billion people by 2035 and reduce and remove gigatons per year of greenhouse gas emissions by advancing climate adaptation, reliable and affordable electricity and grid systems, sustainable food production, responsible greenhouse gas removal, sustainable industry, and equitable access to clean water.

To reach these targets, we support project teams driving innovation in technology, governance, finance, and other areas crucial for shaping a sustainable future. Each project team joins a cohort working toward one or more flagship destinations. These cohorts – made up of a managing director, analysts, and project teams – accelerate progress toward each flagship destination.

Climate adaptation

Improve the lives of one billion people by 2035 by enhancing adaptive capacity, strengthening resilience, protecting ecosystems, and reducing vulnerability to climate change, with a focus on climate-related extreme events. Meet the climate adaptation cohort

Electricity and grid systems 

Reduce gigatons per year of greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity sector globally by 2035 while driving toward zero-GHG, reliable, flexible, affordable, and socially just electricity for all by 2050. Meet the electricity and grid systems cohort

Food and agriculture 

Reduce gigatons per year of greenhouse gas emissions from food and agriculture systems by 2035 while supporting the global goals of ending hunger, securely supplying healthy diets, and ensuring sustainable food production. Meet the food and agriculture cohort

Greenhouse gas removal 

Remove gigatons of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere per year by mid-century through an integrated approach that will support the development of needed technological, governance, financial, and other societal innovations, including addressing equity and justice issues. Industry 

Reduce gigatons per year of greenhouse gas emissions from industry by 2035 by launching solutions that are market-competitive, sustainable, scalable, and equitable. Meet the industry cohort

Water
