This project focused on co-developing a strategy for a sustainable, equitable, and climate-smart aquaculture program in Africa through the Global Environment Facility (GEF), building on scientific knowledge produced through the Stanford-led Blue Food Assessment. The strategy involves three main tracks: government investments in infrastructure; private sector financing for aquaculture technology and supply chains; and investments in environmentally sound and climate-smart aquaculture systems through the GEF. This Sustainability Accelerator grant enabled us to engage with international stakeholders, begin to develop a strategic plan, identify countries to pilot the plan, and move to the next phase of institutional funding and implementation.
