Biological Solutions for Sustainability

This cross-cutting platform will leverage biological systems to create and enhance sustainability solutions for the flagship destinations.  

Innovative biological solutions could be transformative for any of our flagship destinations. Solutions might include development of new drought-resistant crops or alternative protein foods; bioremediation; production of fuels or chemicals; greater resource efficiency in biomanufacturing and waste reduction; design of synthetic ecosystems, making forests more resistant to climate stressors, and more.

2022 Projects

In 2022 the Sustainability Accelerator funded its first cohort of 31 teams. This project leveraged biological systems to advance a sustainability solution.
