Catalyst technology for scalable and high-efficiency power-to-liquid fuel systems

Making clean liquid fuels that can compete with fossil fuels will require a cost-effective way to chemically recycle CO2 emissions. The main bottleneck to date has been converting CO2 into a chemical building block called syngas, a process that typically requires extreme heat. This team invented a catalyst that solves this problem using low-cost materials that work at much lower temperatures, unlocking the potential to produce clean fuels and other commodity chemicals at scale.
