Evaluating and scaling natural capital capacity building for transformative decision-making in small island developing states
Climate adaptation cohort
Small island developing states (SIDS) are on the front lines of climate change, experiencing impacts that frequently exceed national GDP. Nature-based solutions (NbS) conserve and restore natural ecosystems to deliver many benefits, including climate mitigation and resilience, food and water security, tourism, and sustainable livelihoods. Yet investments in NbS remain underfunded and insufficiently connected to the institutional and community support needed for their success. This project will generate evidence and decision-support tools across multiple SIDS on what enables NbS to deliver durable adaptation benefits, helping governments, funders, and communities design and prioritize NbS more effectively for the coastal populations most exposed to climate change.
