Global groundwater sustainability: Scaling and transferring innovative solutions from California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act to other parts of the world
Water cohort
This project seeks to help achieve groundwater sustainability around the world by transferring and scaling technological, scientific, and policy tools developed at Stanford in connection with California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and as part of several Stanford initiatives and labs. Groundwater sustainability is one of the greatest challenges facing the world today. In partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund and other nonprofit organizations, this team will identify key groundwater-management tools and insights from SGMA, assess their replicability in other geographies, identify specific geographies where the tools and lessons can be successfully deployed, and create partnerships for their deployment in aid of sustainable groundwater management.
