Seeing the light: Designing a new regime of measurement, reporting, and verification sensitivity
Greenhouse gas removal cohort
Team: Amir Safavi-Naeini
Measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas removal at scale requires vast sensor networks, but existing technology is far too expensive and power-hungry to be widely deployed. This project developed a compact sensor capable of detecting multiple greenhouse gases with extreme sensitivity, low power consumption, and no moving parts. Built on advanced chip technology, new integrated photonic systems can now offer the compact sensing and data infrastructure needed to measure greenhouse gas removal at a global scale.
